Three time Grammy nominee Bettye LaVette's been on the scene since her teenage years and her talent and spirit have been awarded with dozens accolades. Her career skyrocketed after her legendary performance at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2008 when she injected raw passion and intense vocals into The Who's "Love Reign O'er Me" (listen below). We are so lucky she'll be joining us in the tent on Saturday, July 13!
Bettye is no mere singer. She is not a song writer, nor is she a "cover" artist. She is an interpreter of the highest order. Bettye is one of very few of her contemporaries who were recording during the birth of soul music in the 60s and is still creating vital recordings today. Her latest 2018 release, "Things Have Changed", won her 2 Grammy nominations. To quote the late, great George Jones: "Bettye is truly a 'singer's singer'."
