Ideas: CCNS Visitor Access in Changing Times with Brian Carlstrom
Cape Cod National Seashore superintendent Brian Carlstrom will discuss visitor access in changing times - how Cape Cod National Seashore makes sure visitors can still get to the beach while the sea is rising and climate is changing. Brian will discuss climate change adaptation within the National Park Service and provide three case studies at the Cape Cod National Seashore: Nauset Light Beach, Marconi Beach, and Herring Cove Beach. Followed by refreshments and over in time to head to the beach and see for yourself!
About the speaker:
Brian Carlstrom is the superintendent of the Cape Cod National Seashore. He previously served as Deputy Associate Director for the Natural Resource Stewardship and Science (NRSS) Directorate in Washington, D.C., where he developed and implemented resource stewardship and science policies and direction Service-wide. Carlstrom has been with the NPS for over 30 years. Previous to the NRSS, he worked at parks including Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, Devil’s Tower National Monument, Prince William Forest Park, and the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park. He has a Bachelor of Arts in parks and recreation with an environmental management certificate from George Mason University (GMU).
